I want to start off by saying that I don’t consider myself an expert, but I am a very dedicated fan of the 1933 classic King Kong! I have collected and produced resin and 3D printed kits for 30+ years. When StannArts announced this release, I was very hopeful given the quality of their previous releases. Well, I was NOT disappointed one bit!!! The Kong armature arrived in great shape. I was hooked as soon as I unpacked the base, and it only got better from there! The kit comes with an illustrated instruction booklet that if you follow, the kit builds itself! David used a ton of reference and it shows with every little nut and bolt along with the spots of rust. This kit is not poseable but the pose is great! You can pose the mouth open or closed which is nice as well. I decided to fit mine together and I have to say everything fit well. There are a few pegs that will need a little sanding but overall everything went together beautifully. Why do I say this? Well…….I literally built mine with no glue and had him standing there. Engineering like this doesn’t happen often but when it does it is an absolute pleasure to build. Years ago I bought the Sideshow Kong armature and although beautiful the thing can’t even stand on it’s own. Quality materials were not used. It’s still a beautiful piece but frankly I may sell mine now that I have this kit from David!! I highly recommend this piece. It’s a great price for a pretty good sized kit. Now if we can get him to do one WITH FUR!! And folks……remember……there’s only one Kong…..THE OTK (One true Kong) and that’s the 1933 and for this picky Kong kit buyer this one passes with flying colors!

    WOW!  THANK YOU, SCOTT!

People are going to think I paid you for this review.  LOL  I really do appreciate this, because it acts as a bit of a release valve for me.  Anytime I start sending out a new kit, I kind of hold my breath a bit.  I've been a huge KONG fan since I was 6 - so this was a really important one for me to get right.  There is still so much admiration and affection for the original armature after all these years.  I guess we should all be thankful to Bob Burns for rescuing him from a pile of spare parts and for so generously sharing him with the rest of us.
