New Frankenstein's Lab Kit Announcement!

New Frankenstein's Lab Kit release from StannArts
The new Lab kit offering will be available in multiple scales.

We're happy to announce that we are releasing a smaller, more accurate variation of our Frankenstein's Lab Kit in May/June of this year. This latest offering will include a heavily revised 'Cosmic Ray Diffuser' and lower cabinets, plus a smaller base and wall design.  As you can see from the picture, the base is large enough to accommodate the lab equipment as well as a single figure. The kit also comes with a nice 'Frankenstein' nameplate in the front to complete the display.

Hopefully, this will be the perfect solution for kit builders that lack the budget and/or shelf space to accommodate our full 1:6 scale lab kit - which is pretty massive. This version will come in multiple scales including 1:6 and 1:8. This will make the kit suitable for the smaller Aurora-scale figures.

Over the past several years, I have continued to collect reference materials pertaining to the lab equipment as it appeared in the 1931 film.  I decided that I would use this opportunity to go back and check my work against the new material.  Most of the images I had previously were very dark and low-res.  The new stuff prompted me to enhance some additional screen caps and then cross reference those with the new hi-res images.  I was surprised by how much needed to be revised.  One thing led to another and before I knew it, I had redone at least 85% of the model.   I had a lot of fun working on it and I'm glad I had an opportunity to improve upon my original kit.

In addition to the cosmetic changes, I also made it a bit easier to run wiring up through the 3 cabinets for those that want to add lighting effects. I sort of did this over the years to some extent.  I also "drilled" out holes in the middle shelf just in case you want to replace the vacuum tubes with "light bulbs". These don't actually appear to have been illuminated in the film, which is why I didn't do this for the initial release.  If you really focus on this piece of equipment during the creation sequence in the movie, there is almost no lighting to it at all. There are some small discharges/sparks that emanate from the rail on the CRD, but that seems to be about it.  Certainly, nothing wrong with getting creative and going all-out with your lighting, however. Have fun!

Karloff Bust Comes out of Retirement!

Boris Karloff Bust Painted.

We have received so many requests for our painted Karloff bust, that we have decided to bring him back from retirement.  We're happy to give those folks that really, really wanted one another chance. :-)

I will be creating new molds for him in June and we will start offering him for sale in a very limited run.  I will most likely only do one per month as time allows.  I don't want to end up with a backlog the way I did with the original release. I'll post updates as things progress.

Thanks, everyone!
